GardenBirbs turns backyard birdwatching into a character-driven family journal. Rather than ticking species off a list, you name the individual birds that return to your garden, record what they did, and keep it privately on your phone. It is made in the United Kingdom by AIntelligent Technologies, and the journal is free.
The artwork
Sixty birds, one drawing each, carrying the two or three markings that still tell a species apart at the size of a thumbnail. They are vector drawings rather than paintings or photographs, written as code so they stay sharp at any size and so the birds can blink, breathe and cock their heads. No image generator was used, and there is no stock photography anywhere in the app. These are the same files the app itself draws.
